Slipper Float Test

Okay, this is sort of silly, but I couldn’t resist lashing the new 14 foot cartop cat together and paddling it around the bay for a few minutes, a couple of days ago.

I put her together on Slider’s trailer, even though she’s really a cartop boat. The trailer is a more convenient way to move her the few blocks to the nearest public water access, a beach at the end of the road we live on.

She’s light on the water, anyway.

My sons paddled her around a little.

I took a turn, and then my sons picked her up and put her back on the trailer.

The individual hulls are light enough that I can handle them one at a time. But if you happen to have two strong young men handy, this is easier.

So today I glued up a mast blank out of a couple semi-rough white pine 2 X 4s. I’m building a ply center deck, though a tramp would be much lighter. Rudders are half-finished, though I’m still puzzling over mounting. I hope to take a sail in Slipper before the end of the summer.
